Falling from heights is one of the most common and serious causes of injury. This can occur from an elevated platform such as a ladder, stairs or scaffolding, an improvised step, or from ground level into a penetration (hole)
A standard safety handrail is one metre high. If you use a platform which reduces this height, you are no longer safe from a fall.
Platform ladder use on balconies, next to slab edges or penetrations is prohibited without a formal permit.
Do not use temporary or improvised steps which will raise your feet from the floor level.
